I want to make this extremely clear up front. I am not a witch, and I am not a pagan. I do not practice Paganism or any of its branches. Neowizardry is its own thing, and I make a very intentional effort to keep it separate from real, living belief systems. I do not want to appropriate other cultures, religions, or spiritual practices. That said, I think witches, pagans, and neopagans are cool as hell. Genuinely. Some of the coolest people I have ever met. I am a huge mythology nerd, I love learning about different cultures, and I have a lot of respect for people who practice real-world magic, spirituality, and faith in earnest, even if I do not personally share those beliefs. This site is mostly focused on the idea of the wizard that classical fantasy fiction painted. Old guy, big beard, robe, staff, all that jazz. Neowizardry is intentionally theatrical, comedic, and rooted in fantasy tropes rather than religion. However, this site also exists alongside, interacts with, and is inspired by an online community that includes many real witches and pagan practitioners. While this website is primarily comedic, I have a deep and sincere respect for witches, pagans, neopagans, and anyone practicing their beliefs in good faith. You all rule.
